Litigator A. Paul Heeringa advocates for individuals and corporations in the banking and finance industries facing enforcement actions and litigation, including class actions, complex civil litigation, consumer finance cases and corporate lawsuits. Paul also defends other individual and corporate clients in a wide range of industries and matters during all phases of litigation and trial.

Paul has experience organizing and overseeing the major components of complex litigation involving residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), mortgage foreclosures and breaches of contract. He also defends clients in cases involving Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) claims, Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) allegations and Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) claims. He also has extensive experience in defending product liability and general commercial litigation matters. His work includes trials, appeals and settlements.

A published author, Paul writes on litigation-related topics, including class action discovery and settlements, RMBS litigation and antitrust issues in connection with patent settlements. His work has appeared in the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel Insights, DePaul Business & Commercial Law Journal and American Bar Association’s The Business Lawyer.

On a pro bono basis, Paul has volunteered with Legal Counsel for the Elderly (LCE), Chicago Volunteer Legal Services (CVLS) and Lawyers in the Classroom.
