Alana L. Griffin

Alana Griffin is a partner in the Corporate Practice of King & Spalding in Atlanta, Georgia. She advises companies on a wide variety of matters, including corporate governance, SEC disclosure and compliance issues, capital markets and financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, Ms. Griffin has more than 25 years’ experience in public company corporate matters. Most recently, she served as the Deputy General Counsel and Assistant Secretary to the Board of Directors and Board Committees of Synovus Financial Corp. where she provided advice and strategic guidance to executive and senior management and Board of Directors on a wide range of matters, including SEC disclosure, corporate governance, capital markets and financing transactions, acquisitions and dispositions, compliance/regulatory matters, enterprise risk management, strategic planning, corporate communications, contract negotiations, litigation management, executive compensation and human resources issues. She was responsible for all public company functions, including SEC filings, shareholder meetings, NYSE compliance and related matters. She was also Director of the Regulatory Relations group, acting as primary liaison with state and federal regulators on exams and supervisory issues.

Before joining Synovus, Ms. Griffin served as Senior Vice President, Assistant General Counsel and Secretary of HomeBanc Corp. She was the lead corporate and securities counsel of a publicly traded NYSE-listed real estate investment trust and was responsible for all public company matters, including Board and shareholder matters, SEC filings, NYSE compliance and investor relations. She advised executive and senior management and Board of Directors on a range of legal and strategic matters, including securities transactions and SEC external reporting, compliance, corporate governance, financing transactions, contract negotiations, litigation, executive compensation matters, benefit plans and other human resources matters. She served as Secretary to the Board of Directors and Board committees.

Ms. Griffin began her legal career in New York and after three years, she joined King & Spalding in Atlanta where she represented a number of significant clients in connection with SEC, capital markets and M&A matters, including The Coca-Cola Company, UPS, Georgia Pacific, SunTrust Bank and Cousins Properties.
