Albert F. Tellechea is a partner Holland & Knight's Orlando office and a member of the firm's Litigation Section. His practice focuses on complex civil and criminal litigation, currency matters, international law and U.S. customs law. Mr. Tellechea is the former co-chair of the Orlando Diversity Committee, whose purpose is to promote, celebrate, support and encourage diversity within the office and business community.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Tellechea was a partner in private practice for more than 25 years. Previously, he held positions as Special Federal Prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice; special attorney for the U.S. Department of the Treasury (Operation Greenback); assistant regional counsel for the U.S. Customs Service; and assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Puerto Rico, where he was the Chief Civil Division and the chief of the White Collar Crimes Unit.
Mr. Tellechea has received commendations from among others, the Attorney General of the United States, the Dean of the Georgetown University Law Center, the Attorney General for Florida, the Hispanic National Bar Association, the Deputy Judge Advocate General of the United States Navy, the Commander U.S. Naval Forces Caribbean, the United States Army Corps of Engineers, the United States Coast Guard and the United States Customs Service.
Mr. Tellechea is a frequent guest lecturer at the University of Cambridge, in Cambridge England. His other speaking engagements include, "The Role of the American Lawyers at the Dawn of the Twenty-First Century," Georgetown University Law School; "Foreign Corrupt Practices Act," Miami Beacon Council; "Recent Developments in Federal Forfeiture Law," Hispanic National Bar Association; "United States Currency Laws," a select group of Swiss banks in Zurich, Switzerland; "Due Diligence Required Under the Asset Forfeiture Laws of the United States," Mexican National Association of Corporate Counsel and the Hispanic National Bar Association; "International Trade," Federal Express; "Corporate Compliance and International Economic Crimes," KPMG and Akerman, Senterfitt & Edison, P.A.
