Alecia E. Cotton

Alecia Cotton is constantly mindful of how legal conflict can disrupt the operations and financial performance of the client’s business. As a result, she strives to provide efficient, practical counsel that results in positive outcomes. She has experience in a wide array of complex commercial civil litigation matters including products liability, environmental matters, business torts, contract disputes and real estate litigation. Ms. Cotton additionally has experience in the areas of family law and trusts and estates.

Ms. Cotton has litigated in federal and state courts and is experienced across all phases of litigation in complex matters. Ms. Cotton represents a broad range of clients in civil litigation matters in California, including premise owners, manufacturers and suppliers of a wide variety of products. Ms. Cotton’s experience encompasses all aspects of litigation, including drafting and arguing motions, taking and defending depositions, preparing witnesses, handling evidentiary hearings, alternative dispute resolution, and participating in trials.

Ms. Cotton has handled hundreds of complex commercial civil litigation actions from inception to trial. She has a proven track record of successfully defending corporations in California and various federal courts in high value litigation. Ms. Cotton assisted lead trial counsel on six consecutive trials between April and October 2014. She recently obtained a favorable ruling on a motion to compel a DNA sample for limited genetic testing concerning a novel issue of duty and foreseeability on behalf of a Fortune 500 manufacturing client in a complex commercial civil litigation case after three rounds of briefing over a six-month period.
