Alex previously served for ten years on the firm's Executive Committee. He was also chairman of the products liability and litigation management practice groups and the firm’s general counsel.
Alex primarily works on insurance matters, especially those involving directors and officers liability coverage. He has had experience in insurance, products liability litigation and risk management, and has lectured on these subjects throughout the United States and Europe. He contributed to, and with Donald E. Vinson, edited Products Liability: Pharmaceutical Drug Cases, published by Shepard's McGraw-Hill (1988).
After earning his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, Alex was a law clerk for the Honorable Warren L. Jones of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Alex’s community work has involved homeless services as well as educational opportunities and after school care for financially disadvantaged children.
