Alexas D. Skucas

is a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in King & Spalding's New York office. The primary focus of his practice is managing patent litigation in the fields of electrical engineering and computer science. Mr. Skucas' litigation experience encompasses a wide range of technological fields, including public key encryption, lasers, disk drives, defibrillators, computer monitors, televisions, semiconductor chip fabrication devices, wireless telecommunications systems, and speech synthesis. Mr. Skucas also advises clients on intellectual property policies, and renders opinions regarding the validity, invalidity, infringement and non-infringement of patents. He has also participated in several reexamination proceedings in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, including an inter-partes reexamination.

Prior to joining King & Spalding, Mr. Skucas was a partner at Kenyon & Kenyon in New York City. He received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Virginia, and his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law. Upon graduating from the University of Virginia, Mr. Skucas worked as a member of the technical staff of the Networking Center of The Mitre Corporation, where his work included detailed computer simulation and analysis of air traffic control systems and protocols.

Mr. Skucas is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
