Allison Altersohn

is a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice in King & Spalding’s New York Office. She focuses on complex patent litigation matters across a wide range of technologies, from networking and telecommunications to computer systems and electronics devices to digital imaging technologies. Having received a B.S. in electrical engineering, her work in patent law naturally affords her opportunities to apply her engineering background. In addition, Ms. Altersohn enjoys building relationships with clients and others involved in a given matter; her ability to establish a good rapport helps the work progress efficiently and effectively.

Her experience encompasses all stages of litigation, from pretrial investigation through trial. Ms. Altersohn works closely with clients to provide critical strategic advice and frequently takes a leading role in coordinating joint defenses in multiple-defendant litigations. She has also counseled clients in evaluating large patent portfolios, developing strategies for patent licensing negotiations, and establishing IP policies as part of a client’s standard business procedures. Ms. Altersohn’s clients have included Nokia, Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia Siemens Networks, Avon, Comcast and Google.

Ms. Altersohn received her B.S.E. in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan and received her J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she served as an articles editor of the Arts & Entertainment Law Journal. Ms. Altersohn is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, and numerous Federal Courts. Ms. Altersohn is also registered to practice in the United States Patent & Trademark Office.

Ms. Altersohn has also authored two study guides relating to copyright and trademark law, which are entitled “Easy Review for Copyright Law” and “Easy Review for Trademark Law.”
