Amy Ortner’s practice focuses on a variety of transactional entertainment matters, with particular emphasis on the music industry.
Ms. Ortner has extensive experience advising clients regarding the acquisition, sale and financing of significant music publishing, recorded music and other intellectual property assets. She represents a broad array of domestic and international participants in the entertainment sector, including major and independent music publishers and recorded music companies, entrepreneurs, pension funds, private equity, and closely held, family-run concerns. She routinely advises clients with respect to copyright and chain of title matters, whether in preparation for sale or in due diligence.
Ms. Ortner also represents institutions with regard to music and related media content licenses, ventures with talent, branded entertainment transactions with high-profile talent and content owners, and other entities in all areas of acquisition, development, production and exploitation of entertainment projects. Additionally, she advises clients regarding music and copyright issues relevant to the settlement of disputes.
