Amy Foust

Amy helps clients with all aspects of intangible assets and intellectual property: identifying and securing valuable business and technical information; registering, licensing, and asserting patents and trademarks; providing assessments related to patentability, freedom-to-operate, and due diligence; preparing and negotiating contracts related to IP; and resolving disputes involving confidential information or IP, including litigation.

Amy particularly enjoys representing clients before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, in ex parte appeals and inter partes trials.

Amy has worked with a variety of technologies, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biologics, consumer goods, and computer-implemented business solutions. In addition to utility patents and trademarks, Amy can also help with questions related to trade secrets, trade dress, copyrights, and design patents.

Prior to joining Shook, Hardy & Bacon, Amy served as senior counsel at Proctor & Gamble, where she provided a full range of patent-related services, helping her company negotiate and draft contracts, preparing and prosecuting patent applications, evaluating freedom-to-practice, and coordinating concurrent patent challenges in litigation and at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

While in law school at Indiana University School of Law - Bloomington, Amy served as editor-in-chief of the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies.
