Andrew G. McBride

Veteran communications, technology and new media law litigator Andrew McBride has argued more than 50 appeals in federal circuit courts across the country and handled numerous matters before the Supreme Court of the United States. He advises on managing Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) enforcement actions against a broad array of clients, including technology and telecommunications clients. He also litigates in the areas of copyright, class action defense and alleged white-collar crimes. Andrew began his legal career as a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.

Andrew is known as a keen strategist whose pioneering approach to the regulatory and appellate processes advances his clients’ interests. As a result, Andrew was named one of 50 “Litigation Trailblazers” by The National Law Journal for his development and defense of individual arbitration clauses in standard retail contracts. He has spent more than 25 years in public service and private practice, including serving in the DOJ as an Associate Deputy Attorney General and an assistant to the Attorney General, and as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia.

In private practice, Andrew has led multiple industry coalition cases and represented clients in numerous regulated industries, including leading internet providers, equipment manufacturers and service providers. His litigation background also includes copyright, patent and federal preemption defense, First Amendment protection, corporate and individual investigations and white-collar criminal matters. Andrew has been quoted in The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Huffington Post, The Christian Science Monitor and the Richmond Times-Dispatch on white-collar and public-corruption cases. He has appeared on ABC News, Fox News, PBS NewsHour, NPR and C-SPAN discussing white-collar and national security issues.

Andrew is not just an appellate lawyer. He has tried cases before the state and federal courts, as well as federal agencies. He also has significant arbitration experience under both the AAA Commercial and Consumer Rules. Andrew continually receives top-tier recognition from Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America, The Legal 500 and other leading legal publications.
