Andrew H. Berks

After earning a Ph.D. in chemistry, I began a 17-year career in drug development in the pharmaceutical industry working as an internal science adviser, chemistry and patent searcher, and patent agent. I worked closely with my clients addressing their scientific needs to read between the lines and give them the best possible results. My natural insight into client needs has become a theme throughout my work.

When the time came for a career upgrade, I concluded that law school was the best fit for my natural talents. I loved the combination of research, insight, writing, and partnering with clients to help them succeed. Combining chemistry and law gives me a powerful understanding of both technical and legal issues, which gives my clients a distinct advantage over their competitors.

Since becoming a lawyer, I have worked at major IP firms, boutique patent prosecution firms, and as an in-house IP counsel for a privately held technology company with interests in generic drugs, biotech, and green energy.
