Art O'Reilly has a national practice representing clients in high-stakes complex litigation, including class actions, bankruptcy litigation, shareholder actions, and business break-up disputes. He represents individuals and private and public companies in a variety of industries, including automotive, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, education, health care, financial services, accounting, real estate, private equity, and securities.

Prior to rejoining Jones Day in 2016, Art successfully handled multiple shareholder class actions for breach of fiduciary duty arising out of announced mergers, including for a tier 1 automotive manufacturer and a medical device manufacturer. He has obtained dismissals of putative class action lawsuits against a global automotive supplier for alleged airbag defects, a retail pharmacy for alleged violations of a Michigan generic drug statute, and a publicly traded manufacturer of eyewear for violations of various consumer protection laws. Other noteworthy successes include the representation of the Detroit Institute of Arts through trial and protecting its multibillion dollar art collection from creditors in the city of Detroit's historic chapter 9 bankruptcy case, which earned a "Turnaround Atlas Award" in 2015, and an automotive OEM through trial in an adversary proceeding brought by the trustee of a tier 1 supplier in U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

Art is recognized as a leading lawyer by Chambers USA, which notes that he "continues to develop a solid litigation practice, which sees him acting for well-known automotive, life sciences and telecommunications clients" (2016) and is "very good at thinking through the issues and dealing with multifaceted problems" (2015).

Art is a member of the board of directors of the DMC Foundation, the Detroit Bar Association, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
