Aysswarya is Counsel in our global Corporate and Transactional Advisory Group and joins the firm’s expanding India Business Team. She practices corporate and M&A law with an emphasis on representing both U.S. and international clients in mergers and acquisitions, private financings, joint ventures, strategic alliances and other corporate transactions. She has extensive experience with cross-border transactions, particularly those involving foreign companies investing in India and Indian companies investing overseas.
Previously, Aysswarya was a Mumbai-based partner at Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh & Co., the leading law firm in India. During her nine years with Amarchand, Aysswarya was a core member of that firm’s M&A, general corporate and financial services practices. Her practice primarily involved advising foreign multinationals, including U.S. and EU companies, on their cross-border transactions. She worked extensively on M&A, joint ventures, and/or greenfield projects, involving innovative structuring, a wide range of commercial contracts, and complex regulatory licensing/approval processes. She also helped structure and establish the India businesses of two of the world’s largest and most prestigious Silicon Valley-based companies. In her time at Amarchand, she co-founded the leading Mutual Funds and Financial Regulatory practices in the country.
Aysswarya is passionate about pro bono work. She devotes her time pro bono to helping unaccompanied minors as part of the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley’s program called Legal Advocates for Children and Youth (LACY). In summer 2015, Aysswarya was named one of LACY’s outstanding volunteers. In India, she was involved in a wide range of pro bono efforts, including establishing United Way’s India office and serving as an honorary advisor to its board, conceptualizing and raising a fund for victims of the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai and advising various non-profit organizations on their legal issues.
Aysswarya earned her B.A. and Bachelor of Laws from the prestigious NALSAR University of Law in Hyderabad, India, graduating amongst the top of her class.
