Barry R. Horwitz is an Associate in the Intellectual Property & Technology Practice in the firm's Chicago office. His practice spans all traditional areas of intellectual property law, and includes an emphasis in patent and trademark litigation; trademark, trade secret and unfair competition counseling; and copyright enforcement. Barry has wide-ranging experience in a variety of electronic technologies, including digital communications systems, disc drive servos, and LCD technologies.

Barry has represented leading manufacturers of mobile devices and consumer electronics products in patent litigation, both in Federal Court and before the International Trade Commission. Those cases have focused on technology ranging from mobile web browsers and videoconferencing to optical disc drives. He continues to prosecute patent applications in the fields of merchandise security systems, toys, electronics, gas and oil exploration systems, and aerospace applications, among others.

Barry regularly advises clients on the clearance and selection of trademarks, and he prosecutes foreign and domestic trademark and copyright applications. His practice also encompasses brand management, including trademark, domain name and copyright enforcement for clients in a wide array of industries. In addition, Barry has drafted and negotiated a wide variety of intellectual property agreements, including licenses, assignments, releases, and concurrent use and service agreements.
