Ben Tschann is a partner in Goodwin Procter’s Real Estate Capital Markets Group and its Hospitality & Leisure and Real Estate Investment Management Practices. Mr. Tschann is listed in Chambers as an “up and comer” for his work throughout North America in the Hospitality and Leisure space.

Mr. Tschann’s practice covers all real estate asset classes, with a focus on hotels and resorts. He advises clients on the structuring, negotiation and documentation of complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, debt financings, equity financings, work-outs and short-sales. He works with some of the largest institutional investors, REITs, insurance companies and pension funds in the United States, including AEW Capital, Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers, HEI Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, Quadrum Capital, Rockwood Capital and Sunstone Hotel Investors.

Mr. Tschann has a detailed understanding of hotel operations and critical business functions that impact the ownership and operation of hotel, resorts and similar real estate investments that are combined with an operating business. His experience in negotiating hotel management agreements, franchise agreements and technical services agreements with various national management companies gives his clients a distinctive advantage. He has worked on all types of hotels and resorts ranging from urban-luxury with branded residential to resort casinos to select service projects. In addition, he has handled numerous transactions involving labor unions and collective bargaining agreements, restaurant consulting agreements and celebrity chef affiliations. Mr. Tschann’s practice also includes representing independent hotel managers in the negotiation of hotel management contracts with third party owners.
