Ben Boyd is the co-managing partner of DLA Piper's Washington, DC office.

Ben's practice encompasses a wide variety of business litigation, with significant experience in product liability defense, mass torts, business class actions and a host of contractual disputes.

He represents national manufacturers of consumer products, pharmaceuticals, food products and motor vehicles in state and federal courts throughout the nation. He has extensive experience representing corporate clients in commercial disputes in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the District of Columbia, Maryland and Florida.

Ben became a Florida Bar member in 2007, and from 2007-2010 lead a large team of DLA Piper lawyers based in Tampa and Washington, DC representing a large tobacco company in its defense of approximately 9,000 individual lawsuits filed in Florida after the Florida Supreme Court in 2007 struck down a class action verdict against US tobacco companies, but allowed individual suits to go forward. Ben has also been involved in Florida matters related to copyright infringement claims in the Direct Marketing Industry, accounting malpractice claims, and representation of the family of recently deceased former President of Venezuela Carlos Andres Perez, in a dispute over whether the ex-President's remains would be returned to Venezuela after he died in Miami.

As DLA Piper's National Hiring Partner, Ben leads a team that recruits new associates for DLA Piper's US offices from law schools across the nation. He has spearheaded DLA Piper's efforts to make each new associate class a highly diverse group that is prepared to take on the complex assignments of Firm clients.
