Birte Hoehne Mahyera litigates complex trademark and copyright infringement, unfair competition, and domain name proceedings in federal court and before administrative tribunals and cooperates with foreign attorneys around the globe to establish and enforce clients' rights internationally. Birte helps clients worldwide develop and optimize intellectual property (IP) portfolios, devise filing strategies, monetize assets, and negotiate IP transfers and transactions.
Birte has well over 10 years of professional experience on three continents in both in-house positions and in private practice. She has a broad international perspective on intellectual property in an international context, such as online IP infringements, domain name-related aspects, the extension of IP protection and enforcement across domestic borders, and pitfalls and opportunities associated with international ventures and litigation.
Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Birte worked with another global law firm where she focused on litigating and prosecuting IP for a range of organizations from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies in diverse industries, including entertainment and film, consumer electronics, communications, retail, luxury goods, pharmaceuticals, construction, automotive, aerospace, and finance. Outside the United States, she was in-house counsel for a software company in Switzerland and clerked for both the Higher District Court and the Prosecutor's Office in Germany. She also enjoyed the opportunity to work with arbitration panels in São Paulo, Brazil, and Zürich, Switzerland, on large-scale licensing disputes before the International Chamber of Commerce located in Paris.
