Brian Fairchild, a partner in Goodwin Procter’s Technology & Life Sciences Group, counsels companies and their investors on the evaluation and development of patent portfolios. Dr. Fairchild works with these companies to develop U.S. and foreign patent protection, and assess and reposition existing patent portfolios to maintain relevance in a changing competitive landscape. In addition, he has experience conducting intellectual property due diligence investigations in anticipation of acquisitions, investments in privately held companies and public offerings; evaluating the enforceable scope of patent protection held by third parties analyzing patent infringement and validity issues; and providing strategies for risk reduction.
Dr. Fairchild works primarily in the life sciences, with a focus on protein pharmaceuticals and antibody technologies; protein synthesis and formulation; nucleic acid sequencing, detection, synthesis, and therapies; protein-and nucleic acid-based diagnostic technologies; stem cells; and microbial detection.
