Brian is a class action litigator with significant experience in consumer financial services and securities litigation. He has been with McGuireWoods LLP since graduating from law school in 2001.
Brian’s consumer financial services practice focuses on mortgage and foreclosure process litigation. Throughout the past several years, he has litigated more than a dozen mortgage-related class actions all across the country in state and federal courts, while at the same time handling countless individual consumer financial matters, including actions under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, state and federal RICO and countless others.
His securities class action experience is equally broad. Brian has experience in litigating class actions under the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. His cases often focus on complex accounting issues. He also litigates private broker-dealer arbitrations and litigation concerning the liability of officers and directors of both public and private companies. For more than seven years, Brian has represented a large international conglomerate, first in a multidistrict class action litigation and then in extensive litigation against the company’s former officers and directors.
Brian is also very much a generalist, with a broad based commercial litigation practice. He regularly handles trust and fiduciary litigation, healthcare litigation, business tort and trade secret litigation, and residential and commercial landlord-tenant litigation.
Brian serves on the Gettysburg College Alumni Board of Directors and is an active volunteer with the Central Virginia Legal Aid Society.
While attending the University of Richmond School of Law, Brian was a member of the McNeill Law Honor Society.
