Carrie Kiedrowski's area of practice is intellectual property, with a focus on the enforcement of trademark rights on the internet, global brand development and protection, domestic and international trademark clearance and prosecution, IP due diligence, trademark licensing, and copyright matters. She advises clients on domestic and cross-jurisdictional cease and desist efforts against infringers. Carrie works closely with domain name providers to proactively identify gaps in online brand protection and to maximize domain holdings while minimizing risks and costs. She manages extensive global trademark portfolios for the Wikimedia Foundation (wikipedia.org) and Educational Testing Service (ETS). In addition, she manages portfolios that cover trademarks in the areas of biological and medical products, educational testing products, consumer electronics, mobile devices, hair care products, and pet care products, as well as restaurant, banking, insurance, and real estate services. Carrie has also worked on antitrust litigation matters.
Carrie has successfully represented ETS, the H. J. Heinz Company, and Eastman Chemical, among others, in multiple UDRP actions to recover domain names. She frequently assists with UDRP actions in China.
Carrie represents clients in trademark opposition and cancellation actions before the USPTO and has assisted with obtaining favorable outcomes on behalf of ETS, the H. J. Heinz Company, Research In Motion, and Toni&Guy Limited. Likewise, she manages foreign trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings on behalf of ETS throughout the world. Carrie also assists in U.S. federal district court trademark litigation cases.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Carrie was a counselor for the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission.
