Charan Higbee brings to bear her well-honed writing skills to effectively defend disability and life insurance companies in California federal and state court litigation as well as provide representation on appeal.

A significant portion of Charan’s practice involves the defense of insurers in bad faith cases arising from individual life policies. In such matters, she analyzes the claim and handles all aspects of the case leading up to trial, with a particular focus on writing summary judgment and other motions. Charan also has an active practice defending insurers in denial of disability benefits claims under ERISA and has co-chaired a number of bench trials in this area. She frequently advises clients on pre-litigation claims handling as well.

Both within and outside of her core areas of practice, Charan frequently is called upon by her colleagues to write compelling motions and appellate briefs on behalf of the firm’s clients.
