Chuck Gartland is a partner in the firm’s Labor & Employment Group, focusing his practice on employment litigation and counseling. He has successfully defended employers in a broad range of individual and nationwide class action matters, including wage-and-hour litigation under the Fair Labor Standards Act and state law, and all varieties of claims for employment discrimination and retaliation. Chuck also has substantial experience litigating cases involving misappropriation of trade secrets and confidential business information, violation of non-competition and other restrictive covenants, and related customer and employee raiding claims. In addition, Chuck regularly counsels clients on compliance with employment statutes such as the Family and Medical Leave Act and its state-law counterparts.
Chuck has been selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in multiple jurisdictions, including Washington, D.C. in 2014 and Georgia in 2011 and 2012. During law school at the University of Virginia, Chuck was a member of the Order of the Coif and a finalist in the Lile Moot Court Competition. Prior to joining Alston & Bird, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable William S. Duffey, Jr., of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
