Cory Hohnbaum
is a partner in King & Spalding’s National Litigation Practice Group. He has tried over 35 cases in state and federal courts and before arbitration panels and administrative agencies. Cory’s trial experience spans a number of different areas of the law including securities, employment, construction, patent infringement and insurance coverage. He has argued cases in the Second and Fourth Circuit Courts of Appeals, the Supreme Court of South Carolina and the Courts of Appeals of North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas. A primary focus of his practice involves securities and other financial services litigation and cases involving complex contract disputes and business torts. Chambers and Partners 2013 USA guide describes Cory as “an extremely accomplished trial attorney” and he has also been recognized as a leading trial lawyer by Best Lawyers in America and North Carolina Super Lawyers.

Represented securities firm in federal court in Miami arising out of the sale of auction rate securities.
Defended national securities firm in North Carolina state court class action alleging fraud and unfair and deceptive trade practices by retirees of a Fortune 500 company.
Represented international manufacturer in an arbitration before the International Chamber of Commerce arising out of claims relating to allegedly defective windshield wiper motor systems in large trucks.
Represented national bank in federal court in Atlanta in claims of breach of contract and tortuous interference with contractual relationships arising out of a merger.
Defended hedge fund in federal court in North Carolina in claims brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission alleged violation of various securities laws including claims of insider trading.
Represented national bank in claim by former executive regarding interpretation of executive compensation plan.
Defended investment banking firm in federal court in Cleveland related to fraud allegations arising from the sale of a technology company.
Represented national bank in defense of a RICO class action in federal court in Philadelphia.
Represented employees of major securities firm in investigation conducted by FINRA including allegations of securities fraud and failure to supervise.
