Cristina Fernandez-Parjus is Senior Counsel in Greenspoon Marder’s Family Law Practice Group.
Ms. Fernandez-Parjus is a member of the Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar and American Bar Association and is a member of the Cuban American Bar Association, the Florida Association for Women Lawyers – Miami-Dade Chapter, and the First Family Law Inns of Court.
Prior to joining Greenspoon Marder, Ms. Fernandez-Parjus worked for several years as a member of Family Law and Litigation Practice Groups and gained valuable experience working on complex family litigation, as well as litigation involving complex business disputes, breach of contract cases, insurance disputes, personal injury litigation, and other litigation matters in both state and federal courts. Before practicing law, she interned for Chief Judge Juan Ramirez at the Third District Court of Appeal in January 2011.
Ms. Fernandez-Parjus earned her Juris Doctor from Florida International University College of Law in 2008 where she was named to the Dean’s List and received book awards for earning the highest grades in Pre-Trial Practice, Commercial Law/Sales and Immigration Law. Ms. Fernandez-Parjus was a student attorney in the Carlos A. Costa Immigration and Human Rights Clinic during her third year of law school, where she successfully briefed and argued asylum and habeas corpus petitions in federal immigration court on behalf of the Clinic’s pro bonoclients.
Ms. Fernandez-Parjus earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2005 from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. with a major in International Affairs, focusing on Conflict and Security, and graduated cum laude. She spent a semester abroad in Paris, France where she studied French language, literature and culture in the Cours de Civilisation at the Université de Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV)
Ms. Fernandez-Parjus graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in Miami, Florida. She was born and raised in Miami, where she studied in the French International Studies programs at Sunset Elementary and George Washington Carver Middle School, and where she had the privilege of engaging in a language exchange program, spending several weeks in a French middle school in the suburbs of Paris, France at the age of 12.
Ms. Fernandez-Parjus is fluent in English, Spanish and French; intermediate Portuguese and beginner German. She is passionate about reading, traveling, cartography, fashion, jewelry making, yoga, anthropology and her Cuban roots.
Ms. Fernandez-Parjus has led fundraising teams for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s “Light the Night Walk” for the last several years and is involved in fundraising to rebuild churches in Cuba through “Unidos en Caridad” – United in Charity.
