D. Alan Rudlin

Alan’s strong practice has been diverse geographically as well as in dispute areas. Alan has been involved in numerous trials throughout the country. In addition to the core areas noted above, he has handled a number of significant appellate, defamation and constitutional litigation matters. Beyond litigation, he has been particularly skillful in resolving matters through various forms of alternative dispute resolution. He has a wealth of experience breaking down complex areas of expert evidence for judges and jurors

Alan has extensive knowledge in the various types of alternative dispute resolution and has served as the Chair of his state bar’s Joint Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution. The author of numerous books and articles, Alan serves on the national editorial boards of The Toxic Law Reporter and Class Action Litigation Report, published by The Bureau of National Affairs, as well as The Environmental Counselor, published by Business Laws Inc. He has been a member of the Leadership of the American Bar Association Litigation Section for over 30 years, taught and given presentations on a variety of legal topics to clients, bar associations, and law school groups throughout the country.

Among many teaching positions, Alan has served as adjunct faculty at the University of Virginia School of Law, William & Mary Marshall Wythe School of Law and the University of Richmond T.C. Williams School of Law. He has lectured extensively at Duke University Law School, American University, Washington and Lee University Law School, and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.
