Daniel N. Christus

Daniel Christus is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm's Chicago office. Dan has been practicing law for over twenty years.

Daniel’s practice focuses on the prosecution and litigation of domestic and foreign patents and trademarks, and the performance of due diligence investigations for companies and individuals considering the purchase of businesses. He represents clients in many different technologies and businesses, including the medical products, cosmetics, food beverage, coated paper, chemical and electronics industries.

Dan has successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants in patent, trademark and unfair competition trials and appeals in federal District Courts throughout the United States, and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO), Dan has successfully represented clients in inter partes and ex parte proceedings in the PTO's Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and its Board of Appeals and Patent Interferences.

Dan is a member of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago. He is also a member of the Hellenic Bar Association of Illinois and served as its President from 1998-1999. He has lectured on domestic and foreign intellectual property issues at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the American University in Washington, D.C. and before the Milwaukee Bar Association.

A member of the trial bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Dan is also currently admitted to practice before the Supreme Courts of the States of Illinois and Wisconsin; the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin; and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the Eleventh Circuit and the Federal Circuit.
