David Barnes

is an associate in the King & Spalding’s Business Litigation Practice Group. His practice includes a range of complex commercial litigation matters, focusing primarily on cases involving director and officer liability, complex business torts, and disputes involving financial institutions. Mr. Barnes also works with the firm’s national appellate practice; he has been involved in appeals in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, D.C. Circuit, the Supreme Court of Georgia, and the Georgia Court of Appeals.

Prior to joining King & Spalding, Mr. Barnes served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Karen LeCraft Henderson on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

Mr. Barnes was the valedictorian of his class at Vanderbilt University Law School, where he served as the Symposium Editor for the Vanderbilt Law Review and President of the Law & Business Society. Mr. Barnes also received the Morgan Prize for the most outstanding piece of student writing published in the Law Review. Prior to law school, Mr. Barnes spent three years in the Office of Business Development of a middle-market construction products firm based in Nashville, Tennessee, where he held key roles to two successful acquisitions.
