David R. Callaway



Mr. Callaway has more than thirty years of experience in criminal law and trial practice, including eighteen years as an Assistant United States Attorney. Before joining Baker & McKenzie, Mr. Callaway was Chief of the Criminal Division in the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of California, where he managed more than 90 federal prosecutors and approximately 60 support staff prosecuting federal criminal cases in every area, including economic crime and securities fraud, national security, public corruption, trade secret, OFAC and export enforcement, money laundering, FCPA, and organized crime, among others.

In addition to serving as Chief of the Criminal Division, Mr. Callaway spent almost two years as Chief of the Economic Crimes and Securities Fraud section (2011-2012), as well as serving as Chief and Deputy Chief of the San Jose Branch office from 2006 through 2010. He also served at various times as Health Care Fraud coordinator, Bankruptcy Fraud coordinator, and Professional Responsibility Officer. He received the Executive Office for US Attorneys' Director's Award for Superior Performance as an Assistant US Attorney in 2003. Earlier in his career, Mr. Callaway served for three years as a Deputy District Attorney in Santa Clara County, five years with a white collar criminal defense firm, and three years with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps, including tours in Panama and Korea.

Mr. Callaway advises clients on internal investigations, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, cyberattacks, and complex cross-border commercial litigation. An experienced prosecutor, he has handled numerous criminal cases related to economic crime and securities fraud, national security, trade secret, OFAC and export enforcement, and money laundering.
