DOMINIQUE PADILLA GALLEGO has nearly 15 years of experience in providing integrated global tax planning for asset management (including private equity and hedge fund managers) and financial services clients (including publicly traded partnerships) with international operations and/or international investments. Dominique focuses on U.S. inbound issues related to credit, real estate and other complex investments and outbound issues involving investment platforms in Ireland, Luxembourg and similar jurisdictions, applicable in private equity and other alternative spaces. Dominique assists clients in minimizing permanent establishment risk in various jurisdictions, evaluating the application of income tax treaties, assessing the medium- and long-term operational impact of OECD-BEPS and similar global and local tax initiatives. Dominique provides strategic advice to fund clients subject to IRS audits on U.S. trade or business and international tax issues. Dominique advises on the creation of legal/tax optimal manager and fund entities, the optimal entry/acquisition, holding and exit of diverse/international investments, including the creation and use of financial products for financing and other business purposes.

Prior to joining Sidley as a partner, Dominique was a partner/principal at Ernst and Young LLP. She was also a partner at another global law firm, and previously was an associate in Sidley’s Tax practice. Dominique participates in various speaking engagements with the Practising Law Institute, American Bar Association and the Hedge Fund CFO Association and was a recognized tax advisor in The Legal 500.
