Doris Hsu counsels individuals, families, family offices and privately held businesses on the U.S. income and gift/estate tax implications of their domestic and cross-border transactions.
On the individual side, Doris advises individuals and families on pre-U.S. tax residency planning and on IRS compliance and reporting once they become U.S. tax residents. She also advises on the termination of U.S. tax residency, including expatriation.
On the business side, Doris advises family offices and privately held businesses on the tax planning, implementation and IRS reporting of their domestic and cross-border business formations, acquisitions, restructurings and joint ventures, utilizing applicable income tax treaties, whether they are non-U.S. persons investing in U.S. businesses or real estate or U.S. persons expanding overseas.
Doris is a regular speaker at tax conferences on international tax topics affecting individuals and their businesses. In addition to English, Doris is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese and conversational in French.
