Douglas R. McFadyen is a tax partner in Shearman & Sterling’s New York office. Mr. McFadyen has a broad-based corporate tax practice, with an emphasis on international and cross-border tax planning. Prior to joining Shearman & Sterling, he clerked for the Chief Judge of the Tax Court of Canada and was a tax policy advisor to the Canadian Minister of Finance, with responsibility in the capital markets, financial institution and foreign affiliate areas. Mr. McFadyen is the former Co-chair of the New York State Bar Association Committee on Cross-Border Capital Markets and has written and lectured extensively on both U.S. and Canadian international and financial instrument taxation. He is listed as a leading lawyer in Chambers USA, The Legal 500 and The International Who’s Who of Corporate Tax Lawyers.
