Erica J. Pascal

Erica Pascal is a partner in DLA Piper's Patent Litigation practice group, based in San Diego. Her practice focuses on patent litigation in the life sciences area, including pharmaceuticals, biologics, medical diagnostics technologies and medical devices.

Dr. Pascal brings a breadth of experiences to her practice, including a strong technical background, in-house experience in the life sciences industry, and significant experience in patent litigation.

Dr. Pascal received a B.S. in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She received a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Pascal also worked for a large pharmaceutical company in its agricultural biotechnology division for eight years.

Dr. Pascal has practiced as a patent agent, both in house and for a major law firm. She clerked for the United States District Court for the Southern District of California for the Honorable Rudi M. Brewster.

While at DLA Piper, Dr. Pascal has been a member of many trial teams for life sciences clients, as well as high-tech clients. Her experience spans a breadth of activities including case management, discovery and damages, as well as primary responsibility for the technical issues related to patent infringement and validity.
