Faith K. Bruins is a partner in Holland & Knight’s San Francisco office and a member of the firm's Tax Credit Transactions Practice. Ms. Bruins concentrates her practice in the areas of tax-advantaged real estate investment, development and finance, with a focus on equity investment in affordable multifamily housing projects eligible for tax credits and related benefits under the Internal Revenue Code and various state tax credit programs. She has represented syndicators, direct investors, for-profit and nonprofit developers, community development entities, lenders and deal sponsors in structuring highly complex tax credit transactions intended to maximize financial and tax benefits, as well as have a positive impact on communities.

Ms. Bruins has a special focus on low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) transactions and New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) transactions, with an emphasis on the California market. She has a comprehensive understanding of federal and state tax credit programs, debt and equity finance, partnership and tax law. Clients call on Ms. Bruins to help them find creative solutions in structuring, financing and managing investments in multifamily rental housing projects, assisted living developments, museums, schools, medical and dental care centers, shopping centers, commercial buildings, manufacturing facilities and rooftop solar panel installations. Many of her deals involve a combination of LIHTC, NMTC, historic tax credits and renewable energy tax credits. She is particularly experienced in counseling clients on community revitalization projects that transform neighborhoods with affordable rental housing, community centers, commercial/retail space and job creation.
