Gabriel E. Meister

Mr. Meister has substantial experience in negotiating and counseling clients on complex transactions involving the licensing and transfer of patent, copyright, trade secret and other intellectual property rights. His experience spans a wide range of technologies and industries, including the Internet and electronic commerce, traditional and new media content licensing, computer software and hardware, telecommunications, financial institutions, biotechnology and life sciences, and emerging technologies. Mr. Meister also has extensive experience with large-scale information technology outsourcing (ITO) and business process outsourcing (BPO) deals, and has counseled clients on intellectual property issues in the context of mergers, acquisitions and other large corporate transactions.

Mr. Meister received his B.A. in Biology, magna cum laude , in 1993 from Brown University (where he was elected to Sigma Xi), and his J.D., cum laude, in 1998 from Harvard Law School. Between university and law school, Mr. Meister helped design and conduct innovative bioinformatics and immunology research at Brown University’s TB/HIV Research Laboratory and authored several articles on his research into vaccine component prediction algorithms, which played an integral role in the lab’s establishment of a company that uses advanced statistical analysis techniques to help design effective vaccines.

Mr. Meister is a former Affiliate of the Harvard Law School Berkman Center for Internet and Society. He is the co-author of “Confronting IP Issues in Outsourcing Deals,” which appeared in the New York Law Journal’s Intellectual Property supplement in 2004.

Mr. Meister is admitted to practice law in the state of New York.
