Gregory S. Marsiglia

Gregory S. Marsiglia joined Lowe Stein in 2005, having practiced law in New Orleans since 1997 in a variety of commercial, corporate, and general civil litigation, and in a variety of corporate, real estate, and business transactions. Mr. Marsiglia also advises corporate and commercial clients on formation and planning issues, internal governance, in a variety of contractual matters.

Mr. Marsiglia also has extensive experience litigating succession, trust, and usufruct disputes. He advises and represents executors and other succession representatives, trustees and beneficiaries, and usufructuaries and naked owners, with a thorough understanding of the rights and obligations of each.

Representative clients likewise include real estate developers, building contractors, manufacturers of engineered materials used in the building trades, landlords, and property owners concerning the laws relating to property, private contracting, and in litigation. Such representation includes litigation of property casualty claims against their insurers and construction lien and defect claims, whether on public or private projects. When representing the boards of condominiums and homeowners’ associations, his advice and representation extends to the internal affairs and administration of such associations, and representing them in actions to recover assessments, and to enforce liens.

In recent years, Mr. Marsiglia co-authors the Louisiana Civil Practice Forms (3d) of West Publishing’s Louisiana Practice Series, which is published annually in book form by Thomson Reuters and electronically for Westlaw subscribers. These are practitioner’s guides for other attorneys, in which Mr. Marsiglia writes the chapters devoted to execution of judgments and garnishment. His published work on these subjects remains current with annual updates.

Mr. Marsiglia also serves by appointment of the Louisiana Supreme Court as an Assistant Bar Examiner on the subject of Business Entities and Negotiable Instruments. These examinations test the knowledge of applicants to the Louisiana Supreme Court for a license to practice law in Louisiana. Successful passage of the Louisiana Bar Exam is required for admission to the practice law.

Mr. Marsiglia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Juris Doctorate from Tulane University. His professional association memberships include the Louisiana State Bar and New Orleans Bar Associations, and he serves on the New Orleans Bar Association’s Construction Law and Real Estate Committees. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Louisiana.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Marsiglia engaged in the mortgage banking business as a principal in Amerivest Mortgage Corporation of Louisiana and as a real estate title attorney for Marsiglia Title Agency. His practice continues to draw on that experience in the representation of clients in secured transactions under state and federal mortgage laws and the uniform commercial code.
