Howard Gelt is a partner in the Denver office of Akerman LLP, a national law firm serving clients across the United States and Latin America. Howard has more than 40 years of experience practicing in the areas of commercial and residential real estate development and transactions.
Howard earned his law degree from the University of Denver College of Law in 1969. He received his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees from University of Arizona in 1966. While at the Duke University College of Law Howard created and taught the first class in the country on what is now referred to as Elder Law. He has been active in a variety of political activities throughout his career: he served on the senior staff for Governor Richard D. Lamm, as the Chairman of the finance committee for Governor Roy Romer and as the Democratic state Party Chairman. He is currently a member of the Finance Committee for U.S. Senator Michael Bennet.
Howard has volunteered with the Colorado Lawyers Committee since 2007.
