Howard N. Shipley is a registered patent attorney and a partner with Foley & Lardner LLP. His practice includes counseling clients on the strategic use of intellectual property. Mr. Shipley has designed and implemented several major programs for acquiring and enforcing intellectual property rights for his clients. He is experienced in all phases of patent prosecution in a wide variety of technologies, including electronic, software, power plant and energy technologies, and various mechanical applications. He has particular experience with intellectual property issues confronting companies in the automotive industry. Mr. Shipley also routinely advises his clients on all aspects of patent validity and infringement. He is a member of the firm’s Mechanical & Electromechanical Technologies, IP Litigation, and Patent Office Trials Practices and Automotive Industry Team.

Mr. Shipley is experienced in all aspects of IP litigation. His experience includes patent, trademark and trade secret litigation in federal court as well as Patent Interference proceedings at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He also has experience with unfair trade practice cases at the U.S. International Trade Commission and an international arbitration in Singapore.
