Ira R. Hatton has practiced intellectual property since 1997. He has wide-ranging experience handling a broad range of intellectual property rights matters, including patent litigation, trade secret litigation, opinions and counseling clients in all aspects of acquisition, enforcement and licensing of intellectual property rights including patents, copyrights and trademarks. Patent litigation has been a focal point of his practice.

Over the course of his career and practice, Ira has acquired experience across a wide range of technologies, including semiconductor memory devices (e.g., DRAMS, Flash Memory), software and business methods, medical devices, local and global positioning systems, analog and digital circuits, automotive systems and suspensions, optical discs and drives, and various electrical and mechanical devices.

Ira has managed the day-to-day aspects of patent litigation, including those relative to computer memory, computer software, integrated circuit design and Internet services. He has been responsible for validity, infringement and inequitable conduct analyses, and has prepared for Markman hearings in areas including flash memory, computer and Internet software, positioning systems, automobile related systems, medical devices, and optical discs drives. He has also helped assert patent rights and defend against infringement allegations brought before the International Trade Commission (Section 337), a section of the ITC that dedicates itself to Section 337 proceedings before an Administrative Law Judge.

Prior to joining the firm, Ira served as a Patent Examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and as a law clerk for the Office of Unfair Import Investigations (OUII), Section 337.
