James Tampellini has a broad practice area representing institutional and individual clients in a wide variety of commercial litigation matters with a focus on insurance/risk management, fraud and business torts. He is experienced in handling complex coverage and defense litigations for both insurance carriers and policyholders. James is a former veteran detective of the New York City Police Department and utilizes his extensive investigative experience and law enforcement contacts investigating and litigating cases involving fraud and in conducting internal investigations for clients.

James has represented clients at trials in federal and state courts in New York and in arbitrations, in addition to appearing before the appellate courts. He has lectured before the National Insurance Crime Bureau on insurance fraud.

During law school, James was an editor of the International Law Journal.
