James C. Miller joined the Orlando office of Greenberg Traurig in January 2001. Jim’s 28 years of management experience in the heavy construction industry and his wide-ranging high tech background in computers and software systems provide unique technical and contractual insight for his legal practice as part of the firm's Construction Law Practice. Jim focuses his practice on the development of state-of-the-art service, design and construction contracts, using advanced project delivery techniques for owners and contractors. Jim also provides advice and counsel to both owners and contractors on both construction claims avoidance and claims administration. In addition, Jim has been a licensed professional engineer in the fields of civil, mechanical and control systems and has held P.E. licenses in six states, including Florida, Georgia and California.
Jim's notable experience in defining legal relationships to deliver construction projects in the most efficient manner has consistently produced added value for his clients. Jim represents many of the largest developers in the state of Florida and many other locations across the United States and throughout the Caribbean. Jim brings international business experience in the handling of large construction projects, including claims administration, highly technical construction and intellectual property matters, and the extensive experience of marshaling a large number of varied resources to meet deadlines on budget. Jim has provided construction counseling for casino and condominium developers on more than $2 billion worth of condominium and hotel construction in the state of Florida alone, and more than $7 billion around the United States and in the Caribbean.
Jim’s broad international construction and legal experience enhances the ability of the firm's Construction Practice Group to handle complex construction matters in a cost-effective and timely manner that produces sound business strategies serving both the short-term and long-term interests of our clients.
