Jim Nicholas is a partner and litigation attorney with Foley & Lardner LLP. Mr. Nicholas focuses his practice on federal and state labor and employment issues, including employee classification, wage and hour, leaves of absence, discrimination and harassment, wrongful termination, and the enforcement of noncompetition and nondisclosure agreements. His work for employers also extends to litigation, representing clients before federal and state courts in cases involving claims for wage and hour violations, discrimination and harassment, breach of contract, defamation, noncompetition defense and enforcement, and shareholder disputes. His litigation practice has a significant focus on defending employers against wage and hour class actions brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act and state wage and hours laws.
Mr. Nicholas also represents employers and executives in drafting and negotiating complex executive employment agreements. He advises clients on the terms and use of offer letters, noncompetition and nondisclosure agreements, employee handbooks, and personnel policies.
Prior to joining Foley, Mr. Nicholas served in the U.S. Army Reserve for six years as a civilian affairs specialist and worked as an attorney for another Boston law firm.
