James W. Harbison, Jr. serves as counsel in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. He was a partner of the firm from 1979 to 1999.

Mr. Harbison's practice focuses on commercial civil litigation in state and federal courts, including complex contractual disputes, tort, banking, real estate, product liability property claims and environmental matters. Mr. Harbison also handles matters involving allegations of false, misleading or unfair advertising or trade practices; unfair competition, trade secrets, trademark and copyright infringement; antitrust and trade regulation; and Federal Trade Commission practice. He represents clients involved in direct marketing, leasing, banking, textiles, oil, asbestos, packaging, apparel, securities and real estate industries.

While in law school, Mr. Harbison was head of the moot court program and received the Thurman Arnold Prize. He was honored for his arguments in the finals of the national moot court competition. He was also an Angier B. Duke Scholar and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Harbison was a champion debater, and he has been elected to the national Debate Hall of Fame at Duke University.

Mr. Harbision is admitted to practice in New York and North Carolina and before the U.S. Supreme Court.
