Jamie N. Nafziger

Ms. Nafziger is a Partner in the Trademark, Copyright, Advertising, and Brand Management practice group for the Minneapolis office of Dorsey and Co-Chair of the firm's Privacy and Social Media practice group. She has over seventeen years of experience in trademark, advertising, and cutting-edge, internet-related legal work.

As a lawyer in the firm's top-ranked trademark team, Ms. Nafziger's practice emphasizes trademark, copyright, advertising and internet law, including acquisition and enforcement of U.S. and international rights in trademarks, domain names, keywords and copyrights.

Ms. Nafziger has extensive experience negotiating and drafting licensing agreements, website terms of use, mobile app terms of use and privacy policies, and other online policies. She counsels clients on protecting their marks and copyright-protected content on social networking sites, removing infringements from social networks and other websites, and minimizing their risks in connection with user-generated content. She also helps clients comply with online advertising laws and regulations.

A wide range of companies-public and private, large and small-rely on Ms. Nafziger as their attorney for branding strategy and internet-related issues. She works with clients to select strong new names and brands, then helps leverage them through registration and, when necessary, enforcement against others. She handles matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). She negotiates and drafts licenses for trademarks and copyrighted works. She assists with intellectual property-related due diligence in corporate transactions. She helps companies deal with infringement of their marks on the internet through domain names and keywords. She has deep experience in registering both generic and country code domain names for clients and in counseling clients on managing their domain name portfolios to deter cybersquatters. She is assisting several clients with applications to the Internet Association of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to run .brand generic top level domain names (gTLDs).

Ms. Nafziger earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall), which has the highest ranked intellectual property program among U.S. law schools, according to U.S. News and World Report. She received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University. She is a frequent author and national lecturer on trademark law, internet law, online advertising, social networking, mobile apps, keyword advertising and domain names.
