Jeana Bisnar Maute

eana Bisnar Maute is an associate in the Palo Alto office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where she is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, as well as the Information Technology & Data Privacy Group, the Intellectual Property Group, and the Media, Entertainment and Technology Group.

Ms. Maute’s practice focuses on privacy and intellectual property litigation, class actions, and complex commercial litigation in the technology, media, and entertainment industries. She has represented media and gaming companies and sports conferences in disputes over television and distribution agreements, as well as a rising star company in a billion-dollar bet-the-company founder dispute. She also represents major technology companies involved in putative privacy and copyright class actions, as well as copyright and trade secrets disputes, involving digital technologies in areas including music, payments, location functionality, platform design, ad targeting, and social networking. Ms. Maute also advises on foreign class actions and mass litigations internationally, including in multiple Canadian jurisdictions as well as South Korea. In addition, she has experience responding to Congressional inquiries regarding privacy and technology issues on behalf of an industry-defining technology company.

Ms. Maute rejoined Gibson Dunn after serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Roslynn R. Mauskopf in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Ms. Maute graduated in 2010 from New York University School of Law, cum laude, where she was a McKay Scholar, a Dean's Scholar, a Petrie Scholar, and the Senior Articles Editor on the Executive Board of the New York University Annual Survey of American Law. She received her Bachelor of Sciences in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley in 2006, where she graduated with honors.

Ms. Maute is admitted to practice in the States of California and New York. She is a member of the bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, as well as the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
