Jeewon Kim Serrato is a counsel in the firm’s Litigation Department and the Cybersecurity & Data Privacy practice. She handles a variety of counseling, litigation, crisis management and transactional matters for clients facing cybersecurity issues. Ms. Serrato is the former Chief Privacy Officer of Fannie Mae.

Prior to joining the firm in 2015, Ms. Serrato managed Fannie Mae’s privacy program, a critical responsibility due to the large stores of personal information it collects and maintains. In addition, she oversaw the organization’s privacy risk assessments, reviewed its operations from a privacy and cybersecurity perspective, and handled data security incidents. She is a member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee and is also a member of the Chief Information Security Officer Group on the Dell Software President’s Advisory Board.

Prior to joining Fannie Mae, Ms. Serrato was in charge of managing the privacy program at Reed Elsevier Inc. and served in a senior position at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. Earlier, she was an associate at a Washington, D.C. law firm. Ms. Serrato earned her J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley in 2004, and her B.A. in 2001 from the University of California, Berkeley, where she graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Upon graduation from law school, she served for two years as legislative counsel to a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
