Jeffrey D. Symons

Jeff Symons' practice focuses on domestic and international M&A, joint ventures, private equity investments, corporate governance, restructurings, and corporate finance. He represents principals and financial advisors in negotiated and unsolicited transactions and has represented numerous special committees with related party transactions.

Jeff's practice has involved transactions in a variety of industries, including health care and pharmaceuticals, information services, transportation and air freight services, insurance and reinsurance, telecommunications, media and entertainment, manufacturing, and retail. He also has represented issuers and underwriters in securities offerings in the public and 144A/Regulation S markets. The many companies Jeff represented prior to joining Jones Day in 2015 include: The Blackstone Group in connection with its approximately $26 billion acquisition proposal for Dell, Teva Pharmaceutical in its $6.8 billion acquisition of Cephalon (for which Jeff was recognized as one of the "Dealmakers of the Year" for 2011 by The American Lawyer), Hess Corporation in the $2.8 billion sale of its retail business to Speedway, Pfizer in its $635 million acquisition of Baxter's marketed vaccine portfolio, Bristol-Myers Squibb in its $885 million acquisition of ZymoGenetics, and PHH Corporation in the $1.4 billion sale of its fleet management servicing business to Element Financial. He also represented Ally Bank in its sale of a portfolio of mortgage servicing rights to Ocwen Financial Corp. for approximately $585 million and in the sale of a separate portfolio of mortgage servicing rights to Quicken Loans for approximately $280 million.

Jeff is a member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
