Jenny Durkan is nationally recognized for her leadership in the areas of cyber crime, complex litigation, governmental policy and legislative strategy. She serves as Co-Managing Partner of Quinn Emanuel's Seattle office and Global Chair of the firm's Cyber Security and Data Protection Group.
As United States Attorney, Ms. Durkan was the chief federal law enforcement officer for Western Washington, responsible for all civil litigation and criminal prosecutions as well as coordination of various federal investigative agencies, including Secret Service, FBI, ICE, DEA, EPA and ATF. She chaired key Department of Justice committees and work groups charged with crafting national policies and investigative strategies for cyber crime, intellectual property enforcement and consumer privacy. Her leadership for the DOJ on these fronts includes testifying before Congress on national cyber issues. Durkan successfully worked to help craft national DOJ policies in other key areas, including to mandate FBI taping of suspect interviews and to permit federal drug court programs. For her district, she oversaw a wide range of criminal investigations and prosecutions, including fraud, environmental and terrorism cases. She defended the United States in civil matters and significantly increased the use of civil enforcement to combat health care and other government fraud and to remedy civil rights violations. Under her leadership the U.S. Attorney’s office worked with state, local, and tribal authorities to target violent crime, illegal guns and systemic community problems.
Ms. Durkan has over 25 years of experience resolving and litigating complex civil and criminal matters. Her deep professional experience extends to political and governmental affairs, including anticipating regulatory and policy developments, assessing emerging risks and opportunities, and in crafting legal, policy and public affairs strategies to impact results.
She has counseled individuals, businesses and corporate officers/directors on a full range of sensitive legal, business and strategic issues. Ms. Durkan has served as legal counsel and strategic advisor to two Governors and numerous public figures and has extensive experience in public speaking, dealing with the media and crisis management.
Ms. Durkan has a long history of bar and civic leadership and has received broad recognition for her contributions.
