Jessica Boar counsels and represents employers in all aspects of employment law, including discrimination and harassment, wage and hour issues, and restrictive covenants and trade secrets. She works with employers to ensure compliance with federal, state and local labor and employment statutes, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the California Fair Employment Practices Act, the New York City and New York State Human Rights Laws, the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act. Jessica also counsels clients on hiring, firing and disciplining employees, and developing and revising employment practices and policies.

Jessica has substantial experience advising clients on reductions in force and implementing cost-cutting strategies short of reductions in force including sabbaticals, reduced workweeks corresponding with a reduction in pay and the mandatory use of paid time off.

Jessica has successfully enforced restrictive covenants and has significant wage and hour experience including providing advice on proper employee classification under the FLSA and state labor laws, defeating class certification in wage and hour class actions, and successfully obtaining a trial verdict supporting classification of large restaurant chain managers as exempt employees.
