Joan T. Kluger

Joan T. Kluger is a partner in Barnes & Thornburg’s Intellectual Property Department in the Wilmington, Delaware, office. Her practice focuses on domestic and international patent and trademark procurement, litigation and licensing.

Ms. Kluger draws on her prior research and development experience in the aeronautics and semiconductor industries and her educational background in physics to provide a diverse client base with patent procurement services and intellectual property counseling in the electrical, mechanical, chemical process and computer fields. She has patented inventions directed to integrated circuit manufacturing processes, energy production systems, medical devices, videography equipment and industrial manufacturing equipment, among other technologies.

In the community, Ms. Kluger is a member of the Johns Hopkins University Philadelphia Alumni Chapter Committee and the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. She is a former advisory board member of the Delaware Children's Museum and an alpine sports volunteer with the National Ability Center.

As an active member of the academic community, Ms. Kluger is a member of the Technology Transfer Practice Manual Editorial Committee of the Association of University Technology Managers. She has taught university-level physics and was an adjunct patent law professor at Widener University School of Law.

Ms. Kluger is involved in a number of intellectual property organizations and has held various leadership roles. She has served as a member of the board of directors of the Philadelphia Intellectual Property Law Association and secretary of the Intellectual Property Section of the Delaware State Bar Association. Ms. Kluger was active as a member of the former Semiconductor Partnership Committee of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
