John D. Casais

John Casais has extensive experience representing clients in the structuring, negotiation, documentation, and closing of a broad variety of lending and financing transactions. He has represented borrowers and lenders in countless syndicated and single-lender transactions, many with international aspects, and often in connection with financings that involve mezzanine, second lien, or other junior debt. His practice extends to acquisition financings, recapitalizations, and high-grade and lease financings and to cash flow, asset-based, and other capital markets transactions. John's clients include banks, hedge funds, private equity funds, and finance companies, and he has represented clients in transactions across a broad spectrum of industries. He also represents clients in workouts and restructurings of troubled credits.

John's professional affiliations include the ABA Business Law Section and the American College of Investment Counsel, and he is a frequent speaker on topics relating to syndicated lending. He is a member of the board of trustees of the Excel Academy Charter School Network, which is a leading network of charter middle schools in the Boston area. He is an avid, terrible golfer and a furtive, embedded Yankees fan in a decidedly hostile locale. John leads Jones Day's Banking & Finance Practice in Boston.
